Recommended Day Trips From Hope Villa Brenton-on-Sea is found nestled in the hills of Knysna's West Head and is home to the "Brenton Blue" butterfly. The beach is ideal for sunbathing, walking and fishing. The Brenton-on-Sea Beach Walk is a pleasant 4,5 kilometre walk along the pristine coastline to Buffalo Bay. Buffalo Bay offers safe swimming and perfect waves for surfing.Noetzie was declared a conservancy in 1999 and is renowned for its' castles that were built from stones found in the area. The first castle was built in the 1930's. The beauty of Noetzie's beach surrounded by forest and the dark waters of the lagoon make this a magical place to visit.Rheenendal can be found 10 kilometres west of Knysna. The Rheenendal Ramble is a place to explore - there you will find a number of artists, crafters as well as restaurants and even a garden nursery. There are many trails through the forest in the area or hike to the old gold mine at Millwood and Bendigo Mine where you can learn about the gold rush in the area.Sedgefield offers attractions for the whole family. There are four beautiful beaches which are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Sedgefield is also a paragliding Mecca for the more adventurous! The highest fossil sand dune can be seen from Myoli Beach and Gerickes Point and is home to two colonies of Cape and White Breasted Cormorants. Something not to be missed on a Saturday morning is the Wild Oats Community Farmers Market!Plettenberg Bay, a mere 30 kilometres from Knysna, has some fantastic beaches for swimming. For the more active type we recommend one of the many hikes on Robberg Peninsula. A choice of three circular routes of increasing difficulty and distance are available. This peninsula is a national monument, nature reserve and marine protected area. Storms River Mouth is found in the magnificent Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park and is the starting point for the Otter Trail. This area is home to the African Black Oyster Catcher, Knysna Loerie, Cape Clawless Otter and the Blue Duiker. Here snorkelling, scuba diving, hiking, kloofing and many more adventure activities are on offer. Try the 2,5 - 3 hour "foofie slide" tour through the forest from Storms River Village. And of course a walk across the suspension bridge over the river mouth is something not to be missed.Bloukrans Bridge lies 40 kilometres east of Plettenberg Bay. The Beach House

The Beach House is the original site of the Beach House Hotel which was demolished in 1974 to build this home. It has been in the Krause family since then and we want people to share the same pleasure that we get from the view and the position - situated right on the Knysna Lagoon at The Heads. Rexford Manor

Situated it the aptly named suburb of Rexford in Knysna, Rexford Manor is a sumptuously appointed guesthouse, with spectacular, high level views of the historical town of Knysna and the picturesque lagoon. Knysna was founded in 1804 by George Rex, who was rumoured to have been the illegitimate son of King George III and now Rexford Manor has been renovated to create a space that is fit for a king. Each of the private rooms has its own en suite bathroom/shower, walk in wardrobe, a fridge and tea/coffee station, free WiFi internet access and satellite TV with channels covering movies and sports with others of general interest. The beds can be configured as two singles or a king size double with a relaxing day bed on which to lie back and read or simply drop off into a rejuvenating siesta. The King bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower and a walk in wardrobe. The Queen bedroom, with a queen size bed, leads off the opposite side of the library and offers the same stunning views as the King. The en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe are a mirror image of the King. The library can, by arrangement, be closed off at night to form ideal accommodation for a family of four. Downstairs, off the reception is the Princess bedroom. This room is a delight from the moment you enter. The queen size bed looks out through double doors which open onto a romantic private balcony on the edge of the pool. Papillon Bleu at Brenton-on-Sea is situated on the sea side of the famous Knysna Heads, a breath-taking 15 minute drive from the centre of Knysna. Brenton Bushbuck Lodge

Brenton-on-Sea is a friendly and safe neighbourhood, where you will frequently encounter free-roaming bushbuck. Although the apartment doesn't have sea views, these can be enjoyed from many viewpoints, including the well-maintained Fisherman's Walk, a pathway which extends along the cliff top and which can be accessed via a pathway behind the property. Sitting on the bench placed for your convenience, this pathway offers panoramic views of the ocean. Brenton Bushbuck Lodge offers a ground floor apartment which is below the owner's main house, in the beautiful Brenton-on-sea, on the Western Head of Knysna. This 2-bedroom apartment can accommodate 4 to 6 people. The apartment takes up the bottom half of the house, the owners live in the top wooden structure. Both units are entirely separate, with no access to the apartment from the top part of the house. There are two entrances to the apartment, one via the French glass doors on the patio, into the lounge area and the other via the kitchen. The unit has an alarm which can be armed at the kitchen door entrance. The main bedroom has a king-size bed with a free-standing bath and an en-suite bathroom with toilet, wash basin and shower. The room has built-in cupboards with hanging space and shelves. There is a desk with a mirror on the wall above, which doubles as a dressing table. A hairdryer is available in the room. A ceramic panel heater provides heating. The second room has a double bed and en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, wash basin and toilet. There is a built-in cupboard with shelves and hanging space. A storage cupboard has a counter-top and a mirror attached to the wall and is used as a dressing table. The open plan living room has a sleeper couch which sleeps two, which is available at an additional cost of R250 per night. The well-equipped kitchen features a ceramic-topped stove with oven, an induction plate, double door fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave oven and Espresso coffee machine. The open plan dining/lounge area has seating for 6 people, a comfy couch and sleeper couch, a flat screen TV, the full premium DSTV package and a DVD player. Free Wi-Fi is also available. Cell phone reception inside the apartment is limited and weak, but the Wi-Fi signal is good, so we recommend data-based calls, such as WhatsApp, Skype, Facetime or Messenger. Cell phone reception is good in the garden outside the apartment. Nature lovers can enjoy the buck, butterflies and prolific birdlife in this piece of paradise we call home. The apartment is a short walk to the Brenton blue flag beach and the hotel with its restaurant overlooking the 5km stretch of pristine beach to Buffalo Bay. There are two restaurants, a deli and a convenience store within walking distance.

We serve a hearty 'Tree-Top' breakfast amongst the birds and there is a barbeque facility in the garden. In the evening guests can choose from a selection of fine restaurants, which are located within 10 minutes drive. Although close to the town it is the parkland atmosphere which sets Pumula apart from the other establishments in Knysna. The owner is an enthusiastic birder and can advise guests on the best birding spots in the area or even accompany them when possible. The lodge is also situated close to a bird sanctuary. The beautiful Knysna golf course is only 500 metres from the lodge and a further 6 top golf courses can be visited on day trips, which are within a 70 kilometer radius of the lodge. The owner is also a keen golfer and can assist guests in planning a wonderful golfing holiday. Overduin Guest Apartments

Set in the heart of the Garden Route,Knysna) offers breath-taking views of the valley and is within walking distance of the beach where great fishing and swimming spots can be found. Facilities comprise of two fully furnished apartments, each with a lounge, two separate bedrooms (each unit sleeps five people), kitchenette and one bathroom with shower. Bed linen is supplied - own towels to be provided. Each apartment is furnished with a TV. Have a braai at the bush lapa downstairs or enjoy nature from the deck outside your door. Other recreational facilities include at least seven world class golf courses, bush walks in the Knysna Forest, picnic spots, art galleries, restaurants, ferry rides and interesting shops. Unfortunately no pets allowed. Breakfast on request. DIRECTIONS: From Sedgefield. Approximately 20km from Sedgefield id the "Brenton-on-Sea" turn-off (before crossing the Knysna Lagoon) - turn left. From Knysna, take N2 Highway to George. Look out for the "Brenton-on-Sea" turn-off (just after crossing the Knysna Lagoon) - turn right. The road makes a sharp U-bend and crosses under the N2 bridge, passes Belvidere, crosses over the railway-line, and passes the Brenton -Lake turn-off. After approximately 8km turn right into Watsonia Avenue. Overduin is situated 600m further on the right hand side of the road.

Some of the rooms has entrance to a balcony, where you'd have an exquisite view, over the tree tops with rich birdlife, and the lagoon, right into the heads! We serve a recommendable 3 course breakfast in the dining room or balcony overlooking the lagoon. Our guests are often surprised by the shy presence of a Knysna Loerie in the trees just off the balcony!
